artist statement —

going to therapy with acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, spray paint and ink, i usually come to the canvas in need of release and free of preconceptions, feeling very much like a beginner until i reach some moment, or just many fleeting moments, of clarity.

the eye moves over rich pigment that is smeared, splashed, and scraped in waves of consciousness. there are many little individual moments of spontaneous wonder all over, if you just look around.

i can’t help but find the composition of chaos + intention a fascinating one. living in a world of so many truths and ups and downs, i’m pulled to find a sense of balance: something compulsive paired with something careful. something lighthearted with something heavy. something messy paired with something precise. this varied and layered experience, it’s who we are.

this is simply a digital commemoration of passing moments that have been vv good to me.

what’s vv good for you?
